In this one-day live online class, students will learn a clean, versatile stone-setting technique using double half-round wire to create a track-and-coin-style capture setting for faceted stones of any shape or size. This smart alternative to traditional bezels and prongs allows the setting to adapt to the stone, making it ideal for irregular, angular, or unconventional cuts. Students will be guided through forming, fitting, and finishing the track for a secure, professional result using minimal tools and straightforward methods. Designed for beginner-plus through advanced makers, this class is perfect for jewelers looking to add a contemporary, efficient, and highly adaptable setting technique to their skill set - one that translates easily to pendants and earrings.

Clean lines. Strong hold. Endless flexibility.

In this one-day live online class, you’ll learn a smart, elegant stone-setting technique using double half-round wire to create a track (coin-style) capture setting - a versatile alternative to traditional bezels and prongs.

Designed for faceted stones of any shape or size, this method lets the setting adapt to the stone (not the other way around). It’s approachable, efficient, and perfect for makers who want crisp, contemporary results without over-engineering.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to build a secure double half-round wire track using cold-connection techniques
  • Measuring and fitting stones without specialized gauges and burs
  • Adapting the technique for round, oval, and angular faceted stones
  • Clean forming, alignment, and finishing for a professional look
  • Setting strategies that balance strength with refined detail

Why This Technique?

  • Works across stone shapes and sizes
  • Minimal tools, maximum payoff
  • A great option when bezels feel bulky, or prongs feel fussy
  • Ideal for rings, pendants, earrings, and small sculptural forms

Who It’s For

Perfect for beginner-plus to advanced jewelry makers who want to expand their stone-setting vocabulary with a reliable, modern approach. Hobbyists and professionals alike will leave with a technique they can use immediately in their own designs.
