Core Skills - Basics of Drilling

We developed a set of classes you can take and access anytime you need them to build your core skills. With these foundations, you will be well prepared to create your own work. They are also the essential skills you need for many of our classes. By having them accessible at any time, you don't have to wait for a class to be offered again, they are always here ready to be viewed. 

This is a pre-recorded class, available at any time after purchase. 

 During this class, we will discuss and demonstrate the essential skill of using the drill, alternatives, and tools. We will introduce you to the basics of drilling, clean-up, and safety. We will also introduce you to the flexible shaft drill and a few things you can do with it in the studio. By the end of the course, you’ll be drilling with confidence like a pro! Instructions will include uses for new and old tools and materials that create a better finish. Techniques include drilling, punching holes, burs, basic finishing, and general flex-shaft usage.

• A sheet of copper or brass that is at least 24 gauge and 3x4” minimum. A sheet of copper and brass can be purchased from most hardware stores or art supply stores in the K & S Precision Metals display.
