If you are carving wax models for lost wax casting, you are going to want to know how to make molds for waxes. This is your class! We will begin with an orientation to the variety of molds available that you can make in your own studio. We will also familiarize you with outsourcing the job to a pro, how to find the person for you, how to ship your waxes, and what to expect. We will show you how to make a few simple silicone-based molds for wax duplication and injection from several different kinds of models. Models can be made of several materials including wax, metals, found objects, and more. We will show you what you need to be aware of before making a mold, and how to avoid potential problems down the road as well.
This is part one of the series on wax molds. Be sure to sign up for Wax Molds Part 2: Successful Wax Injection and Alterations!
