During this workshop, we will investigate the wide variety of techniques that the flexible shaft drill can do from the comfort of your own home! The flex shaft can do so much more than just drill holes! We will learn how to add finish, texture, & more to your work. We’ll pay specific attention to finishing surfaces so that your work takes on a more professional look and feel. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to create higher-quality work with style! Instructions will include uses for new and old tools and materials that create a better finish.
Demonstrations will include general flex-shaft usage, drilling, burs, sanding, finishing and polishing attachments, alternative handpieces, jump rings and twisting wire, stone setting, wax carving, and more. Students that have flexible shaft drills, pendant drills, or Dremel-style tools are encouraged to work along. Bring your attachments and bits for identification and discussion. Participants can just watch and learn to become more informed consumers when looking for the right flex shaft tools or work alongside to create samples. I invite your questions, work needing finishing, and sample pieces. The class will show you how to create samples at home with more techniques than you can shake a flex-shaft at!
All classes include the video recording, which you will have access to for 60 days after the class. The Zoom link, handouts, video(s), and other important information can be found by clicking on the individual class link on the "My Courses" page.
