When gold is expensive or scarce, granulation allows jewelry makers to add eye-catching color and texture to their work, using only the tiniest amounts of precious metal. In this class, you will make a granulation “spoon” to plate your granules, discover tips for placing the granules precisely on flat or domed metal sheet, and learn to fire the sheets to permanently and elegantly attach the granules. Gold granules can be attached to either gold or silver. Silver is a cost-approachable material to learn with, and this entire class can be completed with only fine silver - as both base sheet and granules.
This is the second of two separate workshops. In “Granulation - Making Granules (Part 1)” you learned how to make granules and sort them accurately and easily by size.
Skill Level: Intermediate. Moderate patience and hand-eye coordination are required.
All classes include the video recording, which you will have access to for 60 days after the class. The Zoom link, handouts, video(s), and other important information can be found by clicking on the individual class link on the "My Courses" page. The Zoom link and handout (if any) will be available 24 hours before the class starts.
You also get 1 free session of Open Studio Access (OSA) in the month following your class, the Zoom link can be found on the course video access page.
