This class will be recorded, and the recording will be available for students to access through their Little Metal Foxes accounts for a full month after the live class.

This class is focused on how to help jewelry makers become more comfortable bringing their unique design ideas to life. Whether you are creating one-of-a-kind jewelry, or a series, knowing where to find inspiration that provides you with constant ideas is important. Once you understand the basics of Jewelry making, it can be hard to come up with your own ideas. This class will walk you through some great skills to be able to work from idea development to a finished piece.

We will begin with discussing designing ideas by sketching, collecting, creating prototypes and models, and how to continue to find inspiration when you are stuck. Next, we will address how your design idea can be created into a finished piece by working with models and logistics. Several construction solutions will be discussed. This information will be adapted to the needs of the participants in the class.

Participants are encouraged to bring ideas and samples, and a good notebook for writing notes and doodling ideas. Bring projects that pose challenges and together we’ll find the easiest way to accomplish your vision and keep you inspired!

Individual participation is highly encouraged to share ideas and resources.

We will be using Padlet as a group to share ideas and progress. This online tool is available any time and anywhere you have internet access.

Videos of the class will be available for 30 days after the last class.

Recommended Tools:

Materials needed will depend on what you are working on. Each student's needs will vary based on their particular path. However, I do recommend having a sketchbook or journal, and pens or pencils for the first day of class. Also, when we begin making prototypes you may want to have index paper/card stock, scissors/Exacto knife, some glue, and tape. Alternative materials might include clays, wood, or tin foil! We will talk about it in class, so don’t rush out to buy it just yet.
